Beckham Elias Shepherd, otherwise nicknamed "Beck" and "Becky," is an Englishman who previously resided on a farm as a farmer. He migrated to the United States after his farmhand perished. He is a recurring character of Outcasted and Roger's love interest. Eventually, he becomes the deuteragonist of Cretaceous Love. Beckham is an alcoholic when under stress, a massive foodie, and has a suppressed gag reflex. He is able to easily swallow many things that most would deem extremely difficult, if not impossible, to swallow. He is also a very skilled musician, able to play several different types of instruments. His favorites are the piano and the flute. He currently labors as a Ranch Manager and Fishery Manager.

Appearance[]

Beckham is a male anthropomorphic borzoi who is also mixed with golden retrievers, beagles, and bloodhounds and, as a result, share the golden fur of a golden retriever and the ears of a beagle in both shape and color. His ears are medium brown and floppy and the tip of his snout possesses various shades of medium grayish brown streaks. He possesses dark brown eyes with eyelids and lines around his eyes that are the same color as his ears. Beckham stands at 5'6" and weighs 145 lbs. He is able to be considered of an average male body type but with a small potbelly. When nude, he possesses various brown spots all over his body that are large and cylindrical in shape. His most prominent ones are the large circular spot on his chest and upper abdomen and the slightly smaller one on his middle back. He possesses medium-sized spots on his shoulders, forearm, biceps, thighs, calves, shins, and lower abdomen, and a small one between the abdomen and chest.

Before he begets children with Roger, he wears a long-sleeved pumpkin orange knit sweater, an open red parka with brown fur, dark grey pants, black military boots, and a brown newsboy cap with dark brown hounds tooth patterns. After he begets children, he wears the same orange knitted sweater but with a black trench coat, darker grey pants, black military boots, and the same newsboy cap.

Beckham was born to Charles Shepherd and Amelia Shepherd (nee: Bonesworth) on September 20, 2000. He is the youngest of their 4 children. Beckham's parents are conservative and staunchly against the LGBT community which posed difficulties for young Beckham, who happened to be strictly homosexual. Beckham attempted to conceal his attraction toward males and attempted to conceal his explorations with boys his age from them, but eventually, he was caught one day. He attempts to state that they were simply wrestling, but his parents could barely believe him when they observed that they were in their underwear. It wasn't until Beckham was 15 when, over dinner, he informed his parents the truth—that he was homosexual. Despite their teachings, Beckham's siblings did not pay heed this, but his parents were extremely upset about this ordeal. They commenced dealing with this behavior with physical abuse, menial tasks, and the withholding of food until he decided he was "prepared" to date girls his age instead. Shortly before turning 16, Beckham had revealed that he was in a (surreptitiously falsified) relationship with a nearly 16-year-old saluki girl he had met named Susanna "Susie" Salisbury which caused his parents to experience satisfaction with him. He planned to "date" her until he graduated from university and was able to become financially independent from his parents. Unfortunately, his parents would routinely demand evidence that he was, in fact, in love with her by asking him to kiss her, caress her, and display other forms of physical affection toward her. Shortly before he would graduate from university at the age of 20, he admitted that he was, in fact, a homosexual man and not in love with Susie. His parents feigned acceptance toward their son's confession and sexual orientation, but when Beckham wanted to return home to see his family again, he discovered that all of the locks were modified and that he wasn't provided a new key to open the doors. His parents soon informed him that he was no longer allowed inside of their house as he was disowned by them for being homosexual.

Eventually, however, Beckham inherited the family's farm as his parents were approaching their 60s and wished to retire from farm duties and their other children harbored different career choices of their own and declined the inheritance of the family's farm, of which Beckham was the only one who expressed interest in it. His farm duties lasted approximately 1 year as Beckham relocated to the United States after his farmhand perished by being trampled on by multiple elephants during a vacation to Africa and his boyfriend, Shelby, severs their relationship due to lack of passion in their relationship and Shelby catching himself experiencing romantic sentiments for another man. He decided to relocate due to wishing for a new life and to begin anew after all of his negative experiences in his home country and believing that life in the United States would be superior. Beckham still remains the farm's owner legally, receives profits from the farm, and occasionally travels back to the United Kingdom to maintain the farm's automatons which provides the labor on his behalf, and update his mother about how the farm is faring under his care.

He eventually meets Roger while moving into Hellvane, Pennsylware while boarding the same bus as him and coincidentally sitting next to him on the bus. Roger eventually experiences romantic sentiments toward him while conversing with him on the bus ride, despite Roger not wishing to converse with him due his introverted nature earlier on in the conversation. Beckham is not able to grasp Roger's lack of interest and Roger corresponds out of politeness while slowly becoming interested in the conversation. After a lengthy platonic companionship with romantic tension rising, Roger engages in a relationship with Beckham.

Personality[]

Beckham is very empathetic, solicitous, tactful, and courteous with others. Whenever someone is in peril, emotionally or physically, he attempts to the greatest of his capabilities to brainstorm a solution to their dilemmas. He does not enjoy observing people in pain unless he truly believes they deserve it. Aside from this, he also cares quite an abundance about his own psychological state and will not hesitate to prioritize that above that of others. Whenever dealing with someone who attempts to aggravate him, he is quick to utilize his sharp, quick-witted tongue to bring it right back at them. If necessary, he will also respond with whatever physical action he deems proper.

Beckham harbors a love of being in control of things. He will not cease until he either acquires his wishes or he reaches a proper compromise. Despite this, he is mostly known for his phlegmatic manner of speech, usually speaking somewhat monotonously.

Becky also harbors a sense of morbidity. He enjoys telling morbid stories, even to small children, frequently plans on murdering and ingesting people who frustrate him beyond means, enjoys pranking children by telling them that he has murdered other children, and ingesting the bloodied meat that he convinces them are the remains of the children he's murdered (behaving similarly to parents of children he's babysat, where he convinces them that he's murdered and ingested their children before revealing that their children are still alive), and frequently threatens people to treat them in intensely violent manners if they enrage him enough.

Though Beckham is initially enthralled with Roger, he soon discovers that a relationship with someone with Bipolar Disorder and Asperger's may be more difficult than he'd imagine. He discovers himself requiring to soothe Roger during a dysphoric hypomanic phase, cheer him up during a major depressive phase, and match his energy during a euphoric manic phase. Roger's peculiarities caused by autism, such as his hyperfixations, social awkwardness, and his sensory overloads may also pose issues for Beck. While he attempts to navigate his relationship, he attempts to suppress his urges to end their relationship because he loves him.
